Vis is the most remote island of Croatia, located within a two-hour journey from the coast. Vis is also a paradise for tourists who enjoy nature. The farthest inhabited island of Croatia has two main settlements: the town Vis, located in the East and Komiza, located in the west.
A marina in Vis is not difficult to find. But since this is a popular tourist destination during the summer, we recommend you book a marina reservation at a harbor in Vis in time. If you are looking for a port in Vis, we’re here to help you. For a berth booking in Vis, we can recommend Viska Luka Marina, boasting some of the best berths in Vis.
Vis island is a popular spot for tourists during the summer, but it also has a fame for its beautiful and prolific vineyards and its fishing industry. Therefore, if your boat rests in one of the marinas in Vis for at least a couple of hours, take the Chace to dine in one of the local restaurants. Among the best on the island, we can name Konoba Roki's, Boccadoro, Pojoda, Karijola, Villa Kaliopa in Vis, Konoba Bakom, Konoba Jastožera, Restoran Senko in Komiza, Konoba Vatrica in Kut.
Vis is mostly appreciated for its natural assets: vast beaches, hidden coves, extraordinary caves. One of the tours you should take here is the tour to the Blue Cave, situated on the nearby island of Biševo. The view inside the cave is amazing especially before midday when the sunlight passes through an opening situated underwater. Thus, the entire cave becomes colored in a bright azure blue.
Additionally, there is also a Green Cave in the area. Slightly less popular than its blue sibling, the green cave is located in the islet of Biševo. The entrance to this cave is free and you can get here by water taxi.
Some of the most beautiful and wild beaches in Croatia are located on the Vis Island. Grandovacm located near Kut, with its lovely beach bar is a good choice for party-lovers. If you spend your holiday in Komiza, the best beach here is located near the church of Gospa Gusarica, hence its name – Gusarica. A lovely pine tree will provide you shelter and shade if you come here. The sandy beaches situated on the eastern part of the island are a diversion from the typical rocky and pebbly scenery. One of the best beaches in this area is Milna, with its lovely view and blue waters. Moreover, different small islets are located nearby. Srebrna, located in Rukavac is also a beautiful beach, famous for its clear water and the nearby nature reserve.
Vis is proud of its highest point, Hum, located at an altitude of 587 m. Tourists usually come here to take photos of the breathtaking scenery. If you venture on a route to Hum, you might also want to visit Tito’s Cave. The famous leader used to have a hideout here during the Second World War. Moreover, in the nearby, there is also the partisan leader’s refugee. Other attractions that bear historical meaning are the Renaissance fortress called Kaštel (Komiza), the Issa Archaeological Museum located in a 19th fortress (Vis), the Benedictine Monastery (Komiza).
