Brittany is one of the 27 regions of France, located in the North-Western side of the country and it is known as a cultural region. It contains 5 departments: Finistere, Cotes-d’Armor, Ille-et-Villaine, Loire-Atlantique and Morbihan. The entire region is surrounded by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, which adds more beauty to the natural aspect of the area, where high cliffs, imposing mountains, a rich cultural and historical heritage and bohemian villages are gathered all in one place.

The simplicity and yet the complexity of this region makes it very special and the tourists who will visit these lands will be marked by the joy that this kind of beauty can bring to the people. From an architectural point of view, Brittany is extremely complex, representing one of the regions where the medieval buildings have been conserved extremely well. The combination of architectural styles here is breath taking and those who are passionate about history, buildings and culture, will feed their thirst of knowledge with such unique pieces of art. Also, the medieval walls are extremely impressive and they offer an authentic air to the villages. Saint-Malo, Rennes, Brest, Vannes, Quimper and Dinan are the most important cities and communes in Brittany and they pride themselves with spectacular marinas, where a great number of tourists are present every year. Saint-Malo, one of these wonderful locations, is known for the piracy actions in the past and the walled port city that is famous all over the world.

Rennes is another exquisite place in the region of Brittany where a short journey is never enough. This city is considered the capital of the region and there are many significant sights that can be visited here, due to the historical events that happened in the past and have placed a great weight on Brittany’s shoulders. The historic centre of the city is split into a few areas that have an important historical meaning for the city, such as the Parlement de Bretagne and the city hall area, the Place des Lices and Cathedral area, the remains of the ramparts, the Place Saint-Anne area, the Thabor Park area and the South City Centre.
