Darssert Ort

Darssert Ort or Nordhafen is a port in Darss part of the Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The area is perfect bird-watching spot, a place where migrating cranes and geese stop in their voyage. Here lies a part of Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park and visitors should only follow the marked paths indicated by signs in the protected areas. An outpost of German Maritime Museum found in Darss is Darsser Ort Lighthouse, one of the landmarks of the peninsula. A great spot for nature lovers, the municipality has built footpaths along the beaches, trails that take visitors to Darss Forest and also watch towers for observing bird migration in the area. Travellers who wish to explore the area can also visit the town of Rostock which is close to this location.
