To the south there’s two secluded white-sand beaches: Macho Beach and Playa Medio Mundo, that continues with a forest reserve that includes extensive mangrove swamps and sandy beaches. Head east to El Yunque National Park, the only subtropical rainforest in the United States. Its incredible biodiversity can be explored through a variety of hiking routes.
For a unique gastronomic experience, travel east from El Yunque along Route 3, and you’ll reach a string of rustic kiosks serving a variety of local and international foods, from gourmet burgers to classic Puerto Rican dishes. To the north of Puerto del Rey Marina is Laguna Grande, a natural wonder whose waters glow in the dark due to millions of micro-organisms living there.
