Saint David is a town on the Southern shore of the Saint David Parish of Grenada, a Caribbean country comprising seven islands. Saint David's Parish is one of Grenada’s territorial divisions that stands out through a peculiar administrative detail; there is no major town in this region. Saint David, however, is one of the most famous locations due to its touristic potential.
The first inhabitants of this region and of the rest of the country were the Caribs. In the 17th century the French colonists founded their first settlement, and in the following century, the British colonists also started to occupy parts of the region. One of the most important historical figures of Saint David is Lord Würtele, a rich German merchant who acquired the area that nowadays hosts Saint David. He helped develop the area by building a mill and a large mansion which reflected the traditional Quebec architecture. This gave way to a continuous growth as more colonists and indigenes started to settle to Saint David.
Nowadays the town and the entire parish are a major touristic zone in Grenada; people usually come here to enjoy the quiet surroundings, relax on the sea shore or book a berth online and explore the island.
